Nada Surf Covers Depeche Mode

I thought that one hit wonders, Nada Surf had disappeared towards the end of the 90’s, but it turns out that they have been putting out albums since 1996. Their latest CD, “If I Had A Hi-Fi“, features a very excellent cover of Depeche Mode’sEnjoy the Silence“. The song only barely sounds like the original, and that’s not a bad thing. It’s a very mellow, indie rock version that is pulled off very well. I haven’t listened to them since 1996’s “High/Low” which their most famous song “Popular” comes from, but I will definitely have to check out this new album.

Currently, Nada Surf are not on tour, but the band will be playing the “Music of Neil Young” benefit concert at Carnegie Hall in NYC on 02/10/11.
