Is/Is (not to be confused with Isis), are an all female trio from Minneapolis, MN that have been together since 2009. I was turned on to them by a Facebook post and loved what I heard. Their music can probably best be described as shoegaze, although that title doesn’t entirely describe their sound. The first track “Fire” starts out with distorted fuzzy guitars and sort of a dark tone, which pretty much runs throughout III. It’s definitely worth the download and I highly recommend you at least give them a listen.
I’m not afraid to admit that I’m crushing a bit on these three ladies, and I was really disappointed to miss them at Deep Heaven Now 5 last week (due to the city of Somerville having an insane lack of parking). I will definitely catch Is/Is the next time they are in the Boston area for sure, which I hope is soon!
