The much hyped Woodstock 50 lineup is finally out and overall, it’s not too bad. There are actually a few bands that I would love to see including Miley Cyrus (yes, really!), Santana, Portugal the Man, Soccer Mommy, Jay Z, Courtney Barnett, Earl Sweatshirt, Cherry Glazerr, and The Zombies, who absolutely killed it when I saw them at Austin Psych Fest in 2014!! But uhh…eff Imagine Dragons and their giant drum.
I’m really giving some serious thought to going, but it’s suddenly becoming tough to decide on which festivals to go to this year.
Woodstock 50 takes place at Watkins Glen, NY on August 16, 17, and 18th. Tickets go on sale on 4/22/19.
Last year, I came across Rimar‘s song “Higher Ground” and listened to it a lot. Recently, this song came up on my iPod, so I decided to check out the rest of the album and I’m glad I did! Rimar is a solo artist/bedroom producer from Brooklyn. His music could probably be best described as chillwave funk that will remind you a bit of Toro y Moi (and that’s not a bad thing at all!). It’s pretty smooth and makes a great soundtrack for cruising around a locale with lots of palm trees and ocean views at dusk.
Check out the very cool and Hipstamatic-ish video for “Higher Ground” below:

It’s no secret that Broken Bells are one of my favorite new bands of 2010, and I can’t wait for the CD to come out on March 9th! They have added a couple of dates in New York and Los Angeles. If I can somehow figure out the Amtrak system to get back here from New York in time for work the next day, I’m soo in! Otherwise, I’ll just have to hold out hope that they will play somewhere near me this summer (or please please please at Lollapalooza!).
Tickets for both shows go on sale 02/26/2010 and are about $25. I’m pretty sure they will sell out immediately.
Tickets for the NY show on March 10th.
Tickets for the L.A show on March 14th.
