Music Monday: X Suns – X Suns

I became aware of X Suns (which is pronounced “ten suns”) due to a flyer I saw near the Space Needle while on vacation in Seattle last week. In honor of my amazing visit there, I wanted to feature a Seattle area band.

X Suns are a trio made up of Keith Furtado on guitar, Adam Tricoli on bass, and Trent McIntyre on drums, that play instrumental post-rock, which borders on math rock. The self titled EP comes in at around a half hour in length, but the 5 songs flow into each other very well. My favorite is the 4th track, “North of July“, which reminds me of a less noisy, slightly slower Lightning Bolt. It’s a really good album that, despite the length of the tracks, is over before you know it. There are plans for a full length album and I can’t wait to hear it!

I’m jealous of all those that went to the show at The Crocodile last night. Perhaps on my next trip to Seattle, I’ll get the opportunity to see these guys live.
